His research contributes to Historical Geography, Political Geography, Critical Cartography and water studies and specifically to the historical transformations of Northern Italy waterscapes. Over the last few years, his research has also focused on borders reconfigurations adopting an historical and political approach. He got his Ph.D. in History of Europe in 2009 at the University of Bologna. He has been a Research Fellow at the University of Bologna, at the Leibniz Institut für Länderkunde of Leipzig (Germany) and at the University of Trento. He has also collaborated with the University of Verona, Innsbruck (Austria), Budapest (Hungary) and with the Leibniz Institut für Raumbezogene Sozialforschung of Berlin (Germany) Currently, his research project focuses on the linkages between Political Geography of Water, social dynamics and digital cartography in three different waterscapes in Northern Italy.
