His studies concern the interaction between proteins a carbon nanomaterials (fullerenes, nanotubes, graphene and nanodiamonds) in aqueous media. Taking advantage from the amphipathic properties and the high proteins biocompatibility, it is possible to realize nanohybrids with carbon nanomaterials. The goal of his research project is the exploitation of the peculiar properties of the hydophobic carbon nanomaterials in physiological conditions, for applications in biomedical field such as sono/photodynamic and photothermal therapies.
His experties are mainly based on spectroscopic, microscopic, colloidal science techniques. He also matured basic knowledge of proteomic and protein bioconjugation techniques.
