Matteo Bertelli

Matteo Bertelli is a PhD student in the interdepartmental program Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challenges. His work explores the application of Service Design, and co-design approaches within complex healthcare environments, with a particular focus on hospitals. Since 2023, he has been collaborating with the IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Bologna, Policlinico di Sant’Orsola, experimenting with participatory design activities involving hospital staff to improve services, spaces, processes, and user experience. His current PhD research investigates how Service Design can support hospitals in addressing context-specific challenges while integrating climate change considerations, with a focus on preparedness, adaptability, and resilience.
