Marilisa Cortesi, born in Ravenna on 1st April 1987, has completed in 2013 her master in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Bologna, graduating at the top of her class. While, in May 2017 she was awarded her PhD in Bioengineering.
She was awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellow within a collaborative project between the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering- "Guglielmo Marconi" (University of Bologna) and the School of Clinical Medicine (University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia).
From October 2025 Dr. Cortesi holds a Tenure Track position at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering- "Guglielmo Marconi" (University of Bologna, Cesena campus).
The main research interests of Dr. Cortesi, are the mathematical modeling of biological processes and the development of computational tools for the analysis of biological data.
