2017: Alma Idea Junior Grant (University of Bologna) — Project Il potere dell’immagine. Il potere della parola. Elementi distintivi dell’aristocrazia femminile tra età tardoantica e bizantina (IV-XV secolo), with B. Girotti (PI) and G. Marsili.

2011: Dumbarton Oaks Fellowship for the Byzantine Numismatics and Sigillography Summer Program (Washington D.C.), directed by C. Morrisson and V. Prigent.

2009–2010: “Marco Polo” Research Fellowship (University of Bologna) for six months at the Warburg Institute, London.

Research Activity:

2023–present: Principal researcher for The Hidden Legacy. Byzantine Seals of the Exarchal Age in Italian Museum Collections, within the national PNRR project CHANGES – Cultural Heritage Active Innovation for a Next-Gen Sustainable Society (Spoke 4: Virtual Technologies for Museums and Art Collections).

2023–present: Collaborator in the international project Digital Byzantine Studies (DiBS), University of Cologne (PI: Prof. Claudia Sode).

2022–present: Lead researcher for the Corpus of Byzantine Lead Seals of the National Museum of Ravenna (University of Bologna – Regional Directorate for Museums of Emilia-Romagna).

2018–2020: Co-investigator in the Alma Idea Junior Grant project Il potere dell’immagine. Il potere della parola. Elementi distintivi dell’aristocrazia femminile tra età tardoantica e bizantina (IV-XV secolo) (with B. Girotti and G. Marsili).

2018–2019: Member of the European project BYZART – Byzantine Art and Archaeology on Europeana (PI: Prof. Isabella Baldini).

2018–present: Member of the Mesē. Laboratorio di Bizantinistica, University of Bologna.

2009–2010: Member of the Italy–Spain Joint Research Project La città in Italia e Spagna tra tarda Antichità e alto Medioevo. Ravenna ostrogota e Toledo visigota: due modelli di “capitali imperiali ” (University of Bologna – MIUR – Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia).

Conferences and Seminars

Active participant in national and international conferences since 2010. Among the most recent, a paper presented at the 13th International Symposium of Byzantine Sigillography (Cologne, 27–29 March 2025): From Prefect to Exarch of Italy: The Seals of Theodore Calliopa.

Teaching Activity:

2024–present: Lecturer in Language and Culture of the Byzantine World (60 hours), BA in Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna – Ravenna Campus.

2022–2023: Adjunct Professor, Language and Literature of the Byzantine Era (30 hours), University of Bologna – Ravenna Campus.

2017–present: Coordinator of the Byzantine Sigillography Workshop (2 ECTS), MA in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna.

2015–2018: Guest lecturer in courses on Byzantine and Late Antique History and Culture. Topics included imperial insignia, court ceremonial, and artistic culture in Justinianic times.

2017–2018: Co-supervisor of MA thesis Court Dress in the Palaiologan Era (Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna).
