Short Bio

Professor of History of Medieval and Modern Law he taught at the Universities of Modena, Udine, Roma and (since 2008) Bologna. He published books with prestigious publishers, and several essays in Italian, English, French and Spanish languages. He participated in several Italian and foreign conferences. He directs a scientific journal (ed. Il Mulino) and some series of monographs. He directs the Inter-University Center for the History of Criminal Justice and the Inter-University Center for the History of Italian Universities. He worked often in the field of the evaluation of the search (gev-anvur, projects, department, etc.. Researching diachronically the links between history of law and history of culture, he deals above all with history of conflict resolution, history of the universities, history of the duel, history of criminal law, history of the patriarchy, history of human rights in sub-saharian Africa, law and literature, law and supernatural.
