🔴 Research interests

His research focuses on life and professional trajectories, inequalities and social exclusion at different scales. He works with a variety of populations: different social groups such as the youth, the elderly, people with disabilities, immigrant workers, and professional groups such as community and social workers, healthcare workers, researchers and fishers. In his research, he looks at the articulation of multilevel mechanisms contributing to the (re)production of inequalities. He studies how the ongoing socioeconomic transformations and their manifestations (e.g., economic crisis, pandemics) influence people’s life cycles and experiences. In this way, he came to study internal and external migrations. He also looks at the dynamics of different actors (institutions, community, and civic actors, etc.) working to improve living conditions and to tackle inequalities and exclusion. To achieve this, he mobilises an original framework of social innovation. In particular, he combines the sociological approach of life course with an organisational and territorial approach. Unlike other researchers in social innovation, he moves directly from people/groups’ trajectories, living conditions, and needs.

🔴 Scientific excellence and production

Beyond being awarded a Canada Research Chair, in 2018 he received an “Excellence in research” prize from the national network Université du Québec, for the category: young scholars in human and social sciences. Since 2013, he has published 27 peer-reviewed articles (+5 currently accepted with minor revisions or submitted), 5 special issues in peer-reviewed journals (+3 in preparation), 15 book chapters, and other contributions (reports, knowledge transfer, etc.), 2 edited books and 1 monography. He has acquired independent research support for numerous projects from national and international funding, either as Principal investigator [PI], Co-Investigator [CI], or as co-applicants [CA].
