  • Degree in Biological Sciences July 25, 1994 with praise at the University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy working on an experimental thesis in Cytology.
  • Qualified to the profession of Biologist, December 1995.
  • Health Unit 31 of Ferrara fellowship, November 1994 - October 1995. Training in basic techniques of Molecular Genetics applied to human genetic diseases.
  • Visiting Genetic Service, Research Institute CSS Hospital, San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, Italy, October 1, 1997 – December 23, 1997, setting set up methodologies for the studies of cleft lip with or without cleft palate.
  • Ph.D. in Medical Embryology at the University of Ferrara, Italy, February 1, 1999, working on genetic and environmental causes for cleft lip with or without cleft palate aetiology.
  • Italian Foundation for Cancer (FIRC) Research fellowship, January 1, 1999 – December 31, 2001 with a project on the role of the oncogenic simian virus 40 (SV40) in specific human tumours.
