Curriculum vitae

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1998 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bologna University (UNIBO), and awarded the PhD degree in “Epidemiology and control of zoonoses” in 2002 at the UNIBO. From 2002 she was enrolled as Researcher and, from 2014 as Associate Professor at the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences (DIMEVET – UNIBO), certified in compliance with the standard UNI EN ISO 9001:2015. Visiting researcher at Baker Institute for Animal Health, Cornell University - Ithaca, NY (USA), Clinical laboratory of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zurich, and trainee on molecular epidemiology and virus evolution at the Rega Institute – Katholieke Universiteit di Leuven, Belgium and on phylogenetic computing and analysis at the University of Azores, Portugal.

Since 2014 she is Head of the Diagnostic of Infectious Diseases Unit of the Clinical Pathology Service of the Veterinary University Hospital of DIMEVET. She is member of the teaching committee of Veterinary medicine single cycle degree program since 2013. From 2006 to 2012 member of the Board of the Doctorate course in Epidemiology and control of zoonosis, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UNIBO) and member of the Board of the Doctorate School in Veterinary Sciences, DIMEVET (2015 – 2017). From 2011 to 2014 member of the Deliberative Committee of the DIMEVET. From 2012 to 2014 member of the Council of the School of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, UNIBO. Since 2010 Coordinator of Erasmus trainership Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Since 2019 she is a member of the Interdepartmental Center for Alma Climate (UNIBO).

In June 2017 she obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Full Professor. SC: 07/H3; SSD: VET 05 (deadline: June 2026).

Teacher of Infectious diseases of companion animals and practical training in Veterinary Urban Hygiene (curriculum Veterinary Medicine). Other subjects taught include: Molecular epidemiology and biocomputing (curriculum Animal biotechnology, DIMEVET), Prevention and prophylaxis of infectious diseases in kennel and shelter (School of specialization in Animal health and production, UNIBO).

Major areas of research (LS6_7, LS6_8, LS6_13, LS6_1) include infectious diseases of companion animal including zoonotic infections, viral and bacteria infections.

She involved in several research projects related to molecular diagnosis and epidemiology and pathogen evolution in wild and companion animals in collaboration with national and international research centers.

Referee for Italian and non-Italian State-owned bodies and for several scientific journals, including Vet Microbiol, Tick and Ticks Borne Dis, BMC Vet Res, Vet J, Emerg Infect Dis, J Virol, Virology, J Gen Virol, Arch of Virol, J Virol Meth, Infect Genet Evol, Epidemiol Infec Evol, J Clin Microbiol, Virus Gene, Virus Res, Res in Vet Sci, Vaccine, PLOS One. Since 2021 she is member of editorial board of Infection, Genetic and Evolution (Ed. Elsevier).

She authored and coauthored of 63 papers in peer-reviewed journals, has published several book chapters and reviews and she has invited as guest lecturer or speaker. The H index in Scopus is 19, the total IF is 104,032, the total citations are 1007.
