Joining Technologies - some case studies:

- tribological characterization of threaded joints in lightweight materials in the presence of a high number of re-tightening operations
- self-relaxation and vibrational loosening in threaded joints
- efficient numerical modeling of multi-bolted joints,
- static and fatigue characterization of adhesive and hybrid shaft-hub joints (interference plus adhesive)
- problems of fretting fatigue in shaft-hub or threaded joints
- re-design of joints for weight reduction.

Design for Additive Manufacturing - some case studies:

- fatigue characterization of metal alloys (ferrous, aluminum) obtained by 3D printing, depending on the build parameters
- static characterization and development of analytical models for the estimation of the static behavior of 3D printed plastic components
- re-design for additive manufacturing of components obtained using traditional technologies , in the automotive, industrial and power-transmission fields.

Failure Analysis and Structural Optimization - some case studies:

- analysis of the root-cause of failure in mechanical transmission components, by means of numerical and experimental tools
- analysis of the root-cause of failure in lifting equipment
- design of testing equipment dedicated to the characterization of the structural performance of machine elements and groups, in the railway, automotive, industrial sectors
- structural optimization of external bone fixators.
