  1. Development of probabilistic forecasting and ensemble methods and comparison between their performance
  2. Studying behaviour of a Bayesian model of combining distributions (Morris, 1977; Monari, Agati, 2001) in order to forecast the weather phenomena: particularly in forecasting tropical and extra-tropical hurricanes tracks.
  3. Studying statistical methods for the evaluation of the educational processes, with special emphasis to internal and external effectiveness of the educational process, with the twofold purpose of throwing light on the mechanisms that regulate it and ranking among the units supplying the service (universities, schools, degree programmes, courses). The methodology applied is the Social Network Analysis.
  4. Studying statistical models to assess student ability using IRT model for ordered polytomous variables.
