He graduated in Computer Science Engineering (master degree) in
2007 at the University of Padua.
He started his Ph.D. in Bioengineering in 2009 at the
University of Bologna under the supervision of prof. Lorenzo Chiari
and prof. Guido Avanzolini; he obtained the Ph.D. in Bioengineering
in 2012, with a dissertation on "Data Mining in Clinical Practice
for the Quantification of Motor Impairment in Parkinson's Disease
." During his Ph.D., in 2011, he spent a research period of three
months at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, under the
supervision of prof. Paolo Bonato. He is currently a Junior assistant professor (fixed-term) at
the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information
Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" (DEI).
His main research interest is in the application of machine learning, signal processing, and
statistics to movement analysis. In particular, his research is
focused on the analysis of data from wearable sensors in order to
objectively quantify motor impairments in Parkinson's disease and to detect and predict falls in the elderly population.
He is currently working in the Mobilise-D project (https://www.mobilise-d.eu/).
