Curriculum vitae

Luca Baldissara graduated in History at the University of Bologna and obtained his PhD at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He taught "Contemporary History" and "Comparative History" at the University of Pisa, Department of Civilisation and Forms of Knowledge, from 2000 to 2022. He is currently Associate Professor of Contemporary History at the Department of Philosophy and Communication, University of Bologna. From 2003 to 2011, he was director of the journal 900. Per una storia del tempo presente. He was among the founders of the Italian Society of Labour History, of which he was vice-president from 2012 to 2017. He serves on the scientific and editorial board of the 'l'antidoto' series of the publishing house Viella, Rome. Over the years, he has been a member of the scientific committees of the main historical research institutes in Italy (among others: National Institute for the History of the Liberation Movement in Italy, Milan; Gramsci Institute Foundation, Emilia-Romagna, Bologna; Giuseppe Di Vittorio Foundation, Rome; Peace School Foundation of Montesole, Marzabotto-Bologna). His main research interests include administrative and institutional history; the history of war and the Resistance; the history of the political system, conflicts and social movements in republican Italy; the history of war crimes and transitional justice. He is currently working on a history of war and resistance for the publisher Il Mulino.
