Lorenzo Rosa

I am a third-year PhD student in Computer Science and Engineering, part of the Mobile Middleware Research Group. My supervisor is Prof. Antonio Corradi. I am interested in cloud and edge computing platforms for dependable distributed industrial applications.

I am a collaborator of the Cascade project, an edge computing platform for real-time machine intelligence, developed at Cornell University by the team of Prof. Ken Birman.

My research project focuses on the integration of innovative communication technologies (kernel-bypassing) in virtualized industrial applications, distributed between the network edge and the centralized datacenter infrastructures (cloud continuum). The outcome of this project will be a middleware providing a homogeneous and easy-to-use interface, under which several heterogeneous technologies like RDMA, DPDK, XDP, and TSN coexist.
