Laura is a molecular biologist graduated from the Universidad del Valle in Colombia, and obtained her PhD at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina. As a graduate student, she focused her research in molecular bioanthropology and population genetics.
Following her PhD, Laura was recruited as scientific leader of the micro satellites and Y chromosome section, as well as a senior scientist to compare genetic profiles, by the Bank of National Genetic Data of Argentina, one of the most important institutions of human rights in South America. Later, and inspired by this experience, she pursued a Master in Human Rights.
More recent, Laura joined the Ricardo Gutierrez Children's Hospital and studied disease biomarkers and developed molecular diagnostic tools for infectious diseases, including Chagas disease and Covid 19.
Now she is a research member of the EURODIET project at Dipartimento di Medicina Specialistica, Diagnostica e Sperimentale, focusing her studies on aging, nutrition and inflammation.
