Curriculum vitae

Irfan Ullah is a PhD student at the University of Bologna since 2025. His research focuses on mineral exploration, geostatistical ore reserve estimation, and resource exploitation, with particular emphasis on data fusion and machine learning techniques. His research interests include integrating geological, geophysical, remote-sensing, and other spatial data sources for georesources’ analysis and modeling.

Training

He earned a degree in Mining Engineering in 2016 from the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan. In 2021, he earned a Master of Science in Remote Sensing and GIS from the Institute of Geographical Information Systems at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan.

Professional Experience

He gained professional experience through internships and technical roles at private mining companies and at the Department of Mines and Minerals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Later, he joined the Intelligent Information Processing Laboratory of the National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) at UET Peshawar as a Research Assistant.

Educational activities

He has been involved in teaching support for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Institute of Geographical Information Systems, NUST, Pakistan. He is currently a tutor for the “Mines and Quarries” Course at DICAM, University of Bologna.

Membership in scientific organizations

He has been a member of the Pakistan Engineering Council since 2017.

Awards, certifications, and recognitions

He has completed additional professional training, including a Survey Camp Certificate from the University of Engineering and Technology; a Certificate of Participation in Basic First Aid Training from the Pakistan Red Crescent Society; and training in risk assessment, emergency management, fire management, and first aid from Rescue 1122.
