Short Bio

  • ADLD: ADLD is an ultra-rare neurodegenerative disease involving the white matter of the Central Nervous System. ADLD is caused by alterations of the LMNB1 gene (overexpression). My activity is to study the molecular processes that lead to the pathological phenotype. I co-authored a 2021 study analyzing the effects of LMNB1 overexpression in astrocytes, which confirmed the key role of these cells in ADLD.
  • MNGIE: MNGIE is an ultra-rare mitochondrial and metabolic disease caused by mutations in thymidine phosphorylase, an enzyme involved in nucleoside synthesis and microangiogenesis. My activity consists in the development and future analysis of an in vitro model of microangiogenesis in order to fully characterize the effects of the disease on the microvascular system.
  • Gliomas: clarify the dynamics that take place between glioma tumor cells and their microenvironment. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Bellaria Hospital and includes the use of innovative techniques such as laser microdissection and massive NGS sequencing techniques.
