Ilaria Bartolini is a Full Professor of Multimedia Data Management at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DISI), University of Bologna. Her research focuses on the effective and efficient management of multimedia data, with particular emphasis on multimedia data retrieval, analysis, and organization. She conducts her research within the MultiMedia DataBase Group at DISI , where she leads and coordinates the research activities of her students.
From 2022 to 2025, she served as Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
Involved in national and international research projects, she cooperates with several international research institutes; since 2018 she is the EU ICT Scientific Coordinator of the H2020 Project DETECt: Detecting Transcultural Identity in European Popular Crime Narratives; since 2024 she is the UNIBO Coordinator of the PRIN 2022 Project S-PIC4CHU: Semantics-based Provenance, Integrity, and Curation for Consistent, High-quality, and Unbiased data science.
Author of numerous publications, she received several awards and recognitions.
