He holds a Degree in Chemical Engineering (2010) from UTN–FRD (Argentina) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (2016, University of Bologna). Since 2013, he has been conducting research within the LABIOTEC research group.
His research activity focuses on bioprocesses applied to the biotechnological valorisation of agro-industrial by-products and urban waste, as well as on wastewater treatment. His methodological approach integrates principles of thermodynamics, redox reactions (metabolisms described as stoichiometric reactions), chemical equilibria, transport phenomena, and reaction engineering.
His main research interests include:
-
the production of carboxylic acids and polyhydroxyalkanoates (thermoplastic and elastomeric biopolymers);
-
purple bacteria;
-
the development and optimisation of innovative biological processes for wastewater treatment (partial nitritation/denitrification, anammox).
Since 2013, he has been involved in national and international research projects and collaborates with academic research groups and industrial partners.
