1) Studies concerning the relationship between petrographic –
mineralogical – physical - mechanical characteristics, and the
durability of building stone materials used in urban flooring.
2) Mineralogical-petrographic and geochemical studies of building and ornamental rocks and of ceramics from archaeological
sites and monuments.
3) Petrology of Permian and Tertiary magmatic rocks within the CARG
project coordinated by ISPRA and Provincia di Bolzano, Provincia di
Trento and by Regione Lombardia.
4) Petrology of austroalpine metamorphic rocks in the Nonsberg
area (Ulten Zone) and in the Southern Alps.
5) Radioactivity and radon emanation of stone materials used for
buildings interiors.
1) Studies concerning the relationship between petrographic –
mineralogical – physical - mechanical characteristics, and the
durability of building stone materials used in urban flooring are
carried out in order to determine their optimum use. The studies
are targeted primarily to investigate the behaviour of the types of
sandstone traditionally used in Apennines and Po Valley area.
2) Are studied and classified natural and artificial stones
placed in monuments to investigate their nature and origin and
create a diagnostic mapping on their state of deterioration. Are
studied and classified for archaeometric purposes, natural and
artificial stone materials, tools, jewelry and ceramics from the
archaeological excavations carried out in the Sultanate of Oman,
Turkey, Syria and Turkmenistan.
3) Petrology of Permian and Tertiary magmatic rocks within the
CARG project coordinated by APAT and Provincia di Bolzano,
Provincia di Trento and by Regione Lombardia. Are carried out
studies on the Permian volcanic and plutonic rocks of the Atesino
and Trumplino Volcanic Group and on the Monte Croce,
Bressanone-Ivigna to reconstruct, on the basis of geocronological
data, the sequence of these magmatic events. Moreover are carried
out petrological and geocronological studies on the Adamello
tertiary plutonites and dikes.
4) Petrology of austroalpine metamorphic rocks in the Nonsberg
area (Ulten Zone) and in the Southern Alps. Reaction bands between
peridotites and gneisses are investigated in Val d'Ultimo and
Nonsberg in the Hochwart area to determine the amount of the
crustal fluids in the formation of these hydrated rocks and of the
trondhjemitic dikes cutting the peridotites.
5) Radioactivity and radon emanation of building stone materials
used for buildings interiors. These studies are carried out to
determine the extent of gamma radiation and radon emanation of
building materials used in interiors and to investigate the role of
the accessory minerals of the rocks.
