in Neuropathophysiological Techniques, Faculty of Medicine,
University of Bologna. Teaching position in the Optional Course on
“Headaches” in the Degree Course in Medicine, University of Bologna
from 2006 to 2011. Teaching position in the Degree Course on
"Cranial and facial pain: headaches and cranial neuralgias" in
2011. Teaching position in the Degree Course on "Physiopathology
and clinic of the Autonomic Nervous System: pain, interoception and
Autonomic Nervous System interactions" from 2012. Teaching position
in the Maxillofacial Surgery Specialization School, Faculty of

Since 1988 to 14th october 2012 Dr. Pierangeli has worked in the
Department of Neurological Sciences, University of Bologna and
since 15th october 2012 in the current Department of Biomedical and
Neuromotor Sciences-DIBINEM. In particular she is in charge of
healthcare at the Centre for the Diagnosis and Treatment of
Headaches and Facial Pain and works with the Unit of Functional
Exploration of the Autonomic Nervous System. She is a senior
neurologist in the Neuromet division of the IRCCS of Neurological Sciences of Bologna-ISNB.
Dr. Pierangeli's main fields of clinical and research interest
include: genetics; pathophysiology and treatment of primary
headaches; autonomic control of cardiovascular reflexes; heart rate
and biological parameters controlled by the autonomic nervous
system. She has participated in a state-funded national research
programme and the EU-funded: Fifth Framework Programme of the
European Union 2001-2003: In vivo magnetic resonance diagnostic
surrogate markers in prion disease (Proposal n°:
QLTR-2001-01763).
Dr. Pierangeli has published 103 scientific papers and has been
invited to give 50 lectures on topics in the filed of
headaches and the autonomic nervous system. She is a member of many
national and international scientific societies (Italian Society of
Neurology, Italian Association for the Study of the Autonomic
Nervous System AINV, Italian Association for Research on Headaches
ANIRCEF, International Headache Society, European Federation of Autonomic Societies, American
Academy of Neurology).
