Author and co-author of more than 200 papers in international journals and about 200 conference presentations, among which about 40 invited, (ca 200 records, ca 3100 citations, h-index =31, i10-index=96 - WEB of Knowledge - Scopus - Publish or Perish, Google Scholar 2022). Co-editor and Author of various books on Electron Microscopy, Scanning Probe and of an Italian University Text Book on Measures and Methodologies. Co-authos of various patents.

Visiting Scientist at the European Communities' JCR, at Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge (UK) and UIC (USA).
Contract and Visiting Professor at the University of Sassari (I), Chieti (I) and Modena (I).

Head of the "Centre of Biomineralogy, Crystallography and Biomaterials" of the University of Bologna "Alma Mater Studiorum" .
