The research activity is primarily focused on the study of topics related to cardiology. The current areas of scientific interest include: the diagnosis, staging, and optimization of therapeutic management of heart failure in dogs and cats; the electrocardiographic evaluation and therapeutic management of cardiac arrhythmias in dogs; the analysis of the clinical and diagnostic role of microRNAs in canine myxomatous mitral valve disease; and the study of the natural history and clinical behavior of canine atrial fibrillation.
