Curriculum vitae

Giovanni Molari has a master degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bologna (1998) and a PhD in Engineering of Materials at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2003). He is currently full professor at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Bologna, where he worked as an Associate professor (2010-2015), and as a researcher (2000-2010).

His research activity focuses on the design and experimental validation of the reliability of agricultural tractors and machines with particular reference to accelerated test of machines and transmissions. He coordinated several research projects, in particular two PRIN (Progetti di Ricerca di Interesse Nazionale - Research Projects of National Interest) and one FIRB (Programma Futuro in Ricerca - Future in Research Program) financed by the Italian government, and numerous research contracts with tractor and agricultural machine enterprises. He authored more than 140 manuscripts of which 40 indexed on Scopus. He was chief editor of the Journal of Agricultural Engineering from 2014 to 2018, where he was managing editor for the 2006-2014 period. He was director of the new Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences and member of the University Senate of the University of Bologna from 2018 to 2021. He was vice director of the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Bologna from 2015 to 2018.

Since 1 November 2021 he has been Rector of the University of Bologna.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Centre for Sustainable Mobility Foundation and a Benedictine Academic Member of the Bologna Academy of Sciences.
