Short Bio

Giovanni Mazzanti is associate professor of High Voltage (HV) Engineering, Electrical Technologies and Power Quality at the University of Bologna, Italy. His research interests are reliability and diagnostics of HV insulation, power quality, renewables, and human exposure to Electro-Magnetic Fields. He is consultant to TERNA, the Italian Transmission System Operator (TSO). He is author or coauthor of more than 280 published papers, and of the book Extruded Cables for HVDC Transmission: Advances in Research and Development, Wiley-IEEE Press, 2013. He is member of IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) and of IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS), chair of the IEEE DEIS Technical Committee (TC) on “HVDC cable systems”, member of the IEEE DEIS TC on “Smart grids”, member of the CIGRÉ Joint Working Group B4/B1/C4.73 on “New overvoltage shapes in HVDC cable systems”, and co-Editor of the international journal IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation: Part B – Dielectric Applications
