Research Activities
Current research activity is mainly focused on:
- plant nutrition and fertilization in horticulture, with
particular regard at: kinetic of nutrient uptake, interaction among
macro- and micro-nutrients, methodological approach to the use of
optical tools for plant nutritional status estimation and dynamic
fertilization management, management of the nutrient solution in
soilless cropping systems.
- management of water and irrigation with particular regard to
the physiology of drought and salt stress and evaluation of its effect on
growth and yield, as well as the evaluation of evapotranspiration
and determination of water requirements for vegetable crops .
Other research field deals with horticultural produce quality
with regard to nutritional and sanitary aspects, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in horticultural systems.
Research activities are carried out in both temperate and
tropical environments.
