CHARGES/DUTIES

2018 – present: Member of the Board of Directors of the group Chemometric, of the Italian Society of Chemistry, for the Division of Analytical Chemistry

2012 – 2015: Member of the Board of Directors of the Young Group of the Italian Society of Chemistry, for the Division of Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry

2012 – 2013: Member of the Commission for the assignments of the “Primo Levi Award” to the best scientific work produced by a young researcher of Italian Chemical Society and published in an international scientific journal

2010: Responsible of the course on Chemical methods for Restoration at the National Museum of Ghana (Accra-Ghana), within the project “Capacity Building and Activation of Pilot Initiatives for the Valorisation of Cultural Heritage” founded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Sciutto is holder of the following courses at the University of Bologna:

Dr. Sciutto has been and is co-supervisor of several Bachelor, graduate and doctorate theses performed by students attending different courses of studies in Chemistry, Science for the conservation-restoration of Cultural Heritage and in Advanced spectroscopy in chemistry. She is co-supervisor of two PhD thesis in Chemical Sciences.

MAIN RESEARCH AREAS

Development of advanced analytical methods for:

  • Characterization of Cultural Heritage materials
  • Evaluation of new materials for restoration
  • Study of the state of conservation and degradation mechanisms in artistic samples.

    with reference to:

  • FT-IR Spectroscopy and Microscopy in the Mid and Near spectral ranges
  • Raman and Xray-Fluorescence spectroscopy
  • Multispectral and Hyperspectral imaging (HSI)
  • Chemometric methods for the analysis of analytical signals and for the elaboration of hyperspectral chemical maps
  • Immunochemical methods
