Curriculum vitae

Postdoctoral researcher in the research group of Ecophysiology and precision fruit growing. The research topics concern the study, development and application of POM (Precision Orchard Management) principles to improve productivity and sustainability in fruit production. In recent years, a large part of the research projects has actively involved the use and development of image analysis algorithms, computer vision systems, artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, sensor development and testing, as well as strong collaboration in the development of robotic platforms for precision orchard management operations.


Education and Training

July 2022:

  • PhD title in "Tree production systems, fruit, forest and ornamental trees and grape" (XXXIV cycle) at the DISTAL - University of Bologna. Study, development and application of POM (Precision Orchard Management) principles to improve productivity and sustainability in fruit production. PhD project in the joint field of evaluation of innovative training systems and technological application in fruit production. Thesis title “Evaluation of a 2D multileader training system for improving sustainability and precision orchard management applications in italian apple orchards”.

October 2017:

  • Master Degree in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies - cv "Plants deases" at the University of Bologna with vote 110/110 cum laude (Academic Year 2015/2016) - Thesis in physiology of fruit trees. Title: "Physiological response of Abate Fétel following Overcanopy irrigation to regulate orchard microclimate"

October 2015:

  • Bachelor Degree in "Agricultural Technologies" at the University of Bologna with vote 110/110 (Academic Year 2012/2013) - Thesis in ecophysiology of arboreal crops. Title: "Response to water stress of different peach rootstock genotypes: relationships between gas exchange , water potential and biometry of the canopy "

July 2012:

  • High School as Agricultural Expert obtained at the Agricultural Technical Institute "Arrigo Serpieri" of Bologna with the score of 100/100

 

Professional experience

Jan. 2022 - On going:

  • Postdoctoral researcher studying the development and application of POM (Precision Orchard Management) principles to improve productivity and sustainability in fruit production. Large part of the research projects carried out, actively involved the use and development of image analysis algorithms, computer vision systems, artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, sensor development and testing, as well as strong collaboration in the development of robotic platforms for precision orchard management operations.

Nov. 2018 - Jan. 2022:

  • PhD student - research fellows activity supporting the Ecophysiology and precision fruit growing group,  while carrieng out the PhD project.

 June-November 2018:

  •  Paid scholarship "Effect of environmental variables on the ecophysiological response of fruit plants". Support in all phases of research activities (set-up, data collection and analysis) of various projects of the group of Prof. Luca Corelli; Collaboration in the drafting, execution  and reporting of regional and european projects focused on precision agriculture and innovative technologies for improving sustainability and fruit production.

Years 2015 -2018:

  • Gardener and consultant at the "Junior Garden" srl firm in Monteveglio (BO). Landscaping and pruning activities, planning and execution of gardens and irrigation systems. Partial support in the production-management of lawn in sod. Occasionally Agronomic / Phytosanitary consulting services.

April - October 2015:

  • Internship and thesis preparation at the DipSA-Arboreal Crops of the University of Bologna with the support of the tree ecophysiology research group; experiences in data collection and analysis with precision agriculture technologies and other specific tools (in the field and in the laboratory). Preparation and autonomous management of the thesis experiment.

May 2011:

  • School-work internship at the Granarian Association of Emilia Romagna region (AGER) as a laboratory technician in the verification of the chemical, organoleptic and rheological qualities of cereals and derivatives using specific tools (Chopin Alveograph, Bredender Analyzer ...);

July 2010:

  • Work scholarship at the Greenhouses of the Municipality of Bologna as irrigation, transplant, pruning, pouring, fertilizing and handling of greenhouse plants; Occasionally maintainer of the green in parks and historic buildings;
