His research activity is focused on the photochemistry and
electrochemistry of molecular and supramolecular species: mono- and
polynuclear complexes of transition metals and lanthanide ions,
luminescent sensors, dendrimers, and nanostructure semiconductors. In the
field of dendrimers, particularly interesting results have been
obtained on the complexation of transition metal and lanthanide
ions, fluorescent sensors for metal ions with signal amplification,
molecular light-harvesting antennae to absorb and funnel
solar radiation, light driven host-guest systems and metal
nanoparticle synthesis.
