RESEARCH

My current research focuses on multilingual journalism and the discourses it displays. I am interested in the news from both a linguistic and a cultural perspective, considering in particular how the same news item is presented in different contexts of diffusion (national vs, international contexts, monolingual vs. multilingual, alternative vs. mainstream, and written vs. audio-visual). I would like to continue this line of comparative discourse analytical research and thus produce knowledge within the field of Applied Linguistics and Discourse Analysis, possibly using methodologies such as Corpus Linguistics. Additionally, I would like to include other languages (especially German) in my research, making it more complete and far-reaching.

Finally, I am also interested in the language of Social Media, Twitter in particular. Indeed, I think that a corpus-based approach to Tweets and Twitter feeds could bring the cumulative effect of this type of language and thus helping us, both as researchers and as users, to understand its reach and impact in the present media landscape.
