Professor Francesco vella holds a Ph.D in Business Law from the Bocconi University in Milan. He was first appointed Associate Professor of Company law at the University of Modena in 1992, where he taught until 1998.
Since then he is full Professor of Company Law and Financial Markets Law at the University of Bologna, Faculty of Law.
He is the author of three scientific monographs and many journal articles in the fields of Banking Law, Company Law and Financial Markets Law.
He recently published (with G. Bosi) three handbooks on Italian Business Law ("Diritto delle imprese e dell'economia", 2017), Company Law ("Diritto ed economia delle società", 2020) and Banking Law and Financial Market Regulation ("Diritto ed economia delle banche e dei mercati finanziari", 2018); he also published (with R. Genco and P. Morara) a handbook on Cooperative Law ("Diritto delle cooperative", 2018).
He edited a commentary on Italian Financial Markets Law ("Commentario al testo unico della finanza", 2012) and "Solvency II: A Dynamic Callenge for the Insurance Market (with M. Andenas, R.G. Avesani, P. Manes e P.R. Wood, 2017).
He is a member of the editorial board of the Italian reviews of banking and business law: “Banca Borsa Titoli di Credito”, “Mercato Concorrenza e Regole”.
He is editor of the review “Banca, impresa e Società”, a founding editor of “Analisi Giuridica dell'Economia” and co-editor of “Giurisprudenza Commerciale”. He is also member of editorial board of the web site “la voce.info”.
He is member of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration.
He is Charter member of “Disiano Preite Association” for studies in Business Law.
