Francesco Poggi is a researcher at the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), where his research focuses on software engineering, knowledge engineering, the Semantic Web, cognitive and human computing, and information visualization. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bologna in 2015, with research on document engineering, knowledge representation, and semantic technologies. He also holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Associate Professor in Informatics (01/B1) and Information Processing Systems (09/H1).

Throughout his career, he has held scientific leadership roles in several national research projects, including the PNC SMASH project, the PRIN 2022 TEMPO project, the FESR-ER KnowledgeX project, and the PNC Learning for ALL project. He has also participated in numerous national and international research projects, including projects funded under Horizon Europe, ERC, Digital Europe, and Horizon 2020.

He is the author of more than 70 scientific publications in international journals, conferences, and workshops, and has received several Best Paper Awards. He also serves as an Area Editor for the Journal of Web Semantics and teaches at the University of Bologna.
