Francesco Camilli is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Bologna. He received his PhD in Mathematics (cum laude) from the University of Bologna, under a cotutelle agreement with the École Normale Supérieure de Paris, where he also obtained a PhD in Physics. He was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, a catheogry 1 UNESCO institute.
His research lies at the intersection of statistical mechanics, information theory, and high-dimensional inference, with applications to artificial intelligence and machine learning. His interests include spin-glass models, neural networks, information-theoretic limits of learning, and Bayesian models with structured noise. He is the author of several publications in leading international journals and conferences, and co-author of a textbook in Mathematical Physics published by Bologna University Press.
