Teaching

Dissertation topics suggested by the teacher.

I am particularly interested in supervising dissertations in the field of political philosophy with a historical rather than analytical approach. My specific expertise mainly concerns philosophy from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment, Marxism, critical theory in a broad sense, and the relationship between philosophy, literature and film.

Supervision arrangements:

While preparing their dissertation, students graduating in Political Philosophy take part in a disciplinary Seminar, which regularly organizes scientific events (such as book presentations, study days, seminars and conferences) and pedagogical events (such as practical workshops introducing research, AI use, and academic writing). Students are required to attend these extracurricular events. For this reason, I recommend expressing interest in graduating in this discipline early on, in order to make the best use of what the Political Philosophy Seminar has to offer.

While the dissertation is being written, I review and correct students' work as it progresses. Sections submitted for correction are generally returned within a week of being sent. These timeframes should be kept in mind in relation to the deadline for uploading the final dissertation.

Before the final defense, the disciplinary Seminar normally organizes a mock viva in which the student presents their dissertation work and receives feedback, in order to best prepare for the official presentation.
