Short Bio

I am an Associate Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Bologna, and a Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg. My research interests are in the early modern period, the history of political thought and Marxism. I have been a Marie Curie fellow and hold degrees from the universities of Pisa and Paris IV (Sorbonne). I am the author of Conflict, Power and Multitude in Machiavelli and Spinoza (2009), The Political Philosophy of Niccolò Machiavelli (2015), and Monstrosity and Philosophy: Radical Otherness in Greek and Latin Culture (2019). I have also published articles in journals such as History of Political Thought, European Journal of Political Theory, Dialogue, International Studies in Philosophy, and Differences. I have taught in Italy, France, Lebanon, the United States, and the United Kingdom. I am currently working on two projects: ‘Monstrosity in Modern Philosophy’ and ‘Political Conflict, Memory and Sites of Violence.’ Go to the Curriculum vitae

Office hours

On class days, office hours is on Tue and Wed at 5 PM in my office. Outside of the teaching period, office hours is by appointment only and/or via Teams. Always check the Announcements for potential modifications.
