Filippo Andreatta is Professor of Political Science at the
University of Bologna, where he teaches International Politics and
Strategic Studies
Previously, he chaired the Department of Political and Social Science (2018-2024). He has held teaching appointments at the University of
Parma, Trento, the Bologna Center of SAIS-Johns Hopkins and Bocconi
University.
He has attended the United World College of the Atlantic and has
obtained a Laurea
at the University of Bologna, a MA at Columbia
University and a B.Sc. and a Ph. D. at the London School of Economics.
He has written extensively on the subjects of collective security,
international order, the causes of wars, the use of force and Italian and European
foreign and defence policies. He is author of 4 monographs, coauthor of a
handbook on international relations theory (currently adopted by 15
Italian universities) and has edited two books. He is also author
of more than 80 articles in journals or book chapters in Italian or
English.
He has coordinated research projects for the Italian Ministry of
University and Research, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
the Oecd. He has been a fellow at Nato, the Western European Union,
the European University Institute.
He is on the editorial board for political science of Il Mulino publishing house and has previously been part of the
editorial boards of the Rivista Italiana di Scienza Politica. He has been a cofounder and the first
Co-Chairman of the Standing Group on International Relations of the
Italian Association of Political Science.
He is
vice-president of the think tank Arel in Rome.
