He received the degree in Chemical Engineering at Politecnico of Milano, working with Prof G Natta ,prize Nobel for Chemistry, and Prof I Pasquon , from 1965 to 1966 he received a felloship to work at Politecnico of Milano, from 1966 to 1975 was assistent of industrial chemistry at Poitecnico of Milano. From 1975 to 1976 was nominated full professor at the University of Calabria at Faculty of Chemical Engineering and in 1976 he was called as full professor at the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna. He teached Industrial Chemsitry, Development of processes and safety From 2003 TO 2008 he was dean of the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry . His activity of research was in the field of catalysis related to industrial processes and the solution of environmental problems The main topics of research have been : selective oxidation of hydrocarbons, ammoxidation catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, catalytic hydrofloruration epoxidation homogneous and heterogeneous and gassification if biomass. He was member of severial scientfical journals and scientifc associations related to catalysis. He was between the founder of the italian group of catalysi He is author of 518 scientific pubblications 24 patents ,5 books in english , 400 comunications in congress and 180 pubblications of scientific reviews and of paper of divulgation of chemistry pubblished in La chimica e l'Industria He is professor emeritus at the Uniersity of Bologna, scientific consultant of OPCW organization for the destruction of chemical weapons he is vicedirector of La Chimica e L'Industria journal of italian chemical society.
