Curriculum vitae

Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna since 2021, and Research Fellow since 2020, he carries out his research in the field of machine translation. His research interests concern the application of computational linguistics and machine translation methods to particularly difficult linguistic areas and domains such as the translation of literary and artistic works, the trans-definition of regional recipes and menus.

Formation
Graduated in Computer Science in 1998 at the University of Bologna, with a thesis in Operations Research.

Teaching activity
Since 2021 she has been teaching Machine Translation for the master in Specialized Translation - Translation Technology track at the Department of Interpretation and Translation.


Co-supervisor of degree and doctoral theses in the field of Machine Translation and Computational Linguistics.

Scientific activity
He has participated in numerous national and international research programs.
Co-author of the projects Forliviamo and NoTranslation.

Other activities
From 2008 to 2017 he directed the development of the Microsoft Translator platform at Microsoft Research, Redmond, USA.
He directed the design and development of Translator Hub, the first open public platform for the creation and adaptation of machine translation systems.
He collaborated in the creation of Skype Translator and speech-to-speech translation capabilities for Skype, Teams, Office platforms.

He is involved in mentoring and tutoring children and young adults in the field of Computer Science and Artifical Intelligence, collaborating with local institutions such as Casa Bufalini, ArtER, Fitstic.
