Curriculum vitae

Associate professor at the University of Bologna since 2015. She conducts her research in the field of pharmaceutical technology. Research interests are particularly focused on the development of pharmaceutical systems with mucoadhesive and/or mucopenetrating properties for the delivery of molecules with antimicrobial activity to the skin and mucous membranes. Author of numerous publications in international scientific journals.

Education

She earned her Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Bologna in 1999, graduating with the highest honors (110/110 cum laude), and defended her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the same university in 2003. During the final year of her PhD program, she enhanced her research training at UMR CNRS 8612, Institut Galien Paris-Sud, Faculty of Pharmacy, Paris-Sud University, within Team 6 – Amélioration du passage des barrières par les molécules biologiquement actives.

Academic career

From 2003 to 2005, she held post-doctoral research contracts at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Bologna.

In 2005, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the disciplinary sector CHIM/09 - Pharmaceutical and Technological Applications of Chemistry (currently CHEM-08/A), at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Bologna, with affiliation to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

In 2015, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor for the disciplinary sector CHIM/09, and since October 2015, she has been serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Bologna.

Didactic activity

Since 2004, she has consistently held teaching responsibilities for various Bachelor's and Master's degree courses within the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the University of Bologna.

She currently teaches the course "Pharmaceutical Technology and Galenic Pharmacy" in the Single Cycle Degree Programme in Pharmacy (International Programme). She is also responsible for the modules "Micro and Nanovectors" and "Micro and Nanocarriers Laboratory Activity", which are part of the "Modified Release Pharmaceutical Systems" course in the Single Cycle Degree Programme in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology.

Institutional activities

Member of the Joint Commission of the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology and the Internship Board of the Single Cycle Degree in Pharmacy, University of Bologna.

Scientific activity

She is the author of 82 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, 3 book chapters, and 80 conference presentations.

She has participated in several national and international projects, including the most recent ones: PRIN 2022: 3D-printed antibiotic oral dosage forms for pediatric use (p3Diatrics); Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna 2022: Synthesis of natural-like molecules, pharmaceutical formulation and clinical-therapeutic correlation (Thematic macroarea: Infectious diseases).
