Full professor at University of Bologna, Department of
Architecture, he contributed in several research program about
architectural drawing, representation and surveying.
Scientific in charge of “LaRAC – Laboratory of Surveying of
Architecture and City” and "LaMoViDA - Laboratory of Modeling and
Digital Visualization for Architecture", Faculty of
Architecture.
He published essays, reports, papers and books about urban
surveying for the protection of architectural heritage and
about architectural drawing.
Author of "Architettura in 3D. Modelli digitali per i
sistemi cognitivi" (2012), editor of three volumes “I colori
di Cesena. La scena urbana della città” (2008).
Has been promoter and member of Scientific board for the
nomination of Mantua and Sabbioneta for the UNESCO-WHL (included in
2008)
TEACHING AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Between 2006 and 2008 had headed and coordinated a research
program “The colours of Cesena. Recovering the urban scene of
historical city center”; editor of the three exhibitions and
the related books reporting the research outcomes.
In 2007-'08 he participated in the reasearch program
"Testing for a 3D-based information system ", a project
coordinated by the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and adopted by
the Archaeological Superintendence of Pompeii, aimed at creating
prototypes of 3D reality-based models in Pompeii.
In 2008-'09 he participated in the research program for the
realization of "Andrea Palladio - 3D geodatabase" - CISA
Andrea Palladio, Vicenza.
In 2010-'11 he coordinated the U.O. the project "Palladio -
DIGITAL LIBRARY" - CISA Andrea Palladio, Vicenza
In 2012-'15 he coordinated the U.O. Project "PORTICI 3D
BOLOGNA" - Municipality of Bologna.
Head of research MURST-PRIN in 2000 and 2003 on the urban
iconography.
Editor of exhibitions "Architecture of the sacred
space" (Bologna, 1996, Vatican City, 1998); "Cesena. The
urban scene of the city "(2007- 2008).
He has been speaker in several national and international
conferences, meetings and congress giving reports, presenting
papers/posters an holding lectures in Seminars, Summer schools and
Masters.
REASEARCH ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
He participated as reviewer, at the procedure for assessing
the research produced in universities and research centers
supervised by the Ministry of Education (VQR 2004-2010) on behalf
of GEV 08.
He has participated as a reviewer of research projects MIUR
FIRB - Future in Research 2012 and 2014 SIR.
