Scientific activity

He conducted studies aimed to understanding the chemopreventive activity of extracts or purified compounds of plant origin in vitro and in vivo. (Research group coordinator: Prof. Moreno Paolini - Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy).

He has conducted studies on the anti-tumour potential of molecules of plant origin (Research group coordinator: Prof. ssa. Anne Rascle - Department of Immunology, University of Regensburg, Regensburg, Germany).

He conducted studies on the possible co-carcinogenic activity of vitamin E. (Research group coordinator: Prof. Moreno Paolini - Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy).

He has conducted research on the use of compounds of plant origin as possible adjuvants in the treatment of obesity and their role on the intestinal microbiota. (Research group coordinator: Prof. Moreno Paolini - Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy).

He collaborated on studies on the effect of antioxidants in female gamete cryopreservation procedures. (Research group coordinator: Dr. Raffaella Fabbri Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences - University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy).

She has collaborated on studies on the effects of certain classes of compounds of plant origin with chronotropic and ionotropic action on the heart. (Research group coordinator: Prof. Roberta Budriesi - Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy.

He has collaborated in studies aimed to developing solid pharmaceutical forms for oral administration of radical scavengers with hypoglycaemic and anti-inflammatory activity (Research group co-ordinator: (Prof. Nadia Passerini - Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy).

In recent years, he has focused her research activity on the toxicological aspects associated with exposure to vapour generated by electronic nicotine delivery devices commonly known as e-cigarettes in in vivo models. The research conducted has focused on the study of oxidative effects at the level of macromolecules and the modulation of cytochrome P450 superfamily activity and antioxidant enzymes in different tissues. Recently, the line of research has turned to studying the co-mutagenic and co-carcinogenic potential linked to exposure to e-cigarette vapours, as well as the potential effects on male gonadal function. (Research group coordinator: Prof. Moreno Paolini - Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy).
