His many areas of expertise are lead with urban knowledge and design starting from traditional tools and practices connected to several shapes of the contemporary cities. Urban design is a chance to study and to understand the reasons of settlements and their specificities.

His main research  topics are:

_Infrastructures and settlements: relationship between urban development and the infrastructure net with a specific regard to susteinable mobility and public transport net;

_Urban/rural: relationship between cities and rural space in the contemporary landscape; periurban terrirory discipline; soil consumption;

_Public spaces and urban design in the city-territory: design and practices, temporary or not, in urban open spaces.

_Seaside districts: birth and growth of the seaside cities; relationship between tourism and planning;

_Metropolitan cities: monitoring of the planning tools and processes in the metropolitan cities (Legge 56/2014)
