Ongoing research activities regards: (1) risk/benefit profile of drugs and relevant sources of variability; (2) effect (benefits and risks) and appropriateness of use in special population, with a focus on cardiotoxicity and hepatoxicity associated with various drugs (anticancer agents, antipsychotics, antiinfectives, antihistamines); (3) pattern of drug use at the national and interrnational levels, through drug utilization analyses and pharmacoepidemiological approaches to assess drug adherence.

- retrospective analyses of spontaneous reporting systems
- retrospective analyses of administrative databases of drug prescriptions
- observational prospective studies (questionnaires, "on-field" hospital studies)
- Systematic reviews with/without meta-analyses
