Guidelines for the thesis supervisions

Students interested in writing their thesis under my supervision may contact me via email to request an appointment.
The meeting will focus on discussing a structured proposal, the result of an initial phase of independent research — a simple idea or topic suggestion is not sufficient to request a meeting.

Before contacting me, it is therefore essential to:
a) identify a research topic and assess its feasibility (e.g., access to sources, data, materials, or potential interviewees and how to reach them);
b) compile a preliminary bibliography specifically related to the chosen topic, distinct from the texts covered in my course;
c) outline a possible structure for the thesis, organized into chapters that progress from general to specific;
d) reflect on the original contribution the proposed research aims to make in relation to existing studies.

In preparation for the first appointment, students are required to send me:

  • a short abstract summarizing the objectives and research questions;

  • a draft outline of the thesis chapters;

  • a list of bibliographic sources forming the basis of the proposed topic.

These materials will be discussed together during the office hours.
