Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, University of Bologna, and a member of the Advanced Design Unit since 2014. In 2021, she earned her PhD in Architecture and Design Cultures, investigating the contribution of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), design, and events to processes of urban, cultural, and human reactivation in the contemporary city. Her research focuses on understanding design's contribution to the development of CCIs; her interests lie in exploring creative practices embodied in products and services ("embodied creativity"), as well as anticipation and "commoning" design, acting as formative and transformative agents within innovative cultural and creative ecosystems.
From 2015 to 2019, she held a research fellowship at the University of Bologna’s Department of Architecture, focusing her work on analyzing, building, and monitoring the design system in Emilia-Romagna. She examined the roles of creativity, design cultures, and CCIs as agents for transforming relationships and as drivers for fueling open innovation processes.
During 2019–2021, she held a research fellowship at the University of Bologna’s Department of the Arts, where she worked on developing an activation and growth plan for the Research Center for Interaction with Cultural and Creative Industries (C.R.I.C.C.). She also coordinated research, start-up activities, and launched projects, fostering connections with local businesses, institutions, and foundations. These activities laid the groundwork for establishing a research laboratory on technologies for Cultural and Creative Industries, structured as an integrated departmental center spanning multiple scientific-disciplinary sectors at the University of Bologna (advanced design, music, cinema, media & performing arts, photography, fashion, and digital humanities).
In March 2022, she completed a freelance assignment at the Department of Architecture focused on developing and implementing cross-sectoral relationships between the University of Bologna and the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) sector, with the aim of exploring opportunities for competitive design projects.
Since 2024, she has served as the scientific lead and coordinator of activities for the Departmental Research Centre on Cultural and Creative Industries (C.R.I.C.C.) at the Department of the Arts, University of Bologna.
Since 2023, she has been an invited member of the "Design for Societal Transformation" Strategic Thematic Group—led by the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) under the EIT Culture and Creativity initiative (supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology)—and an invited member of the Oslo International Cultural and Creative Industries Network. The latter is coordinated by the BI Centre for Creative Industries (BI:CCI) in Oslo and brings together international representatives from research centres, universities, and business schools active in research and innovation projects for the CCI sector.
In 2022, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for the academic field "Design and Technological Architectural Design" (Competition Sector 08/C1; 2021–2023 cycle, second period).
Since 2021, she has served as an Associate Editor for the journal *diid – disegno industriale industrial design*.
She has published articles in international journals such as Strategic Design Research Journal, CPCL – European Journal of Creative Practices in Cities and Landscapes, PAD – Pages on Arts and Design, MD Journal, and diid – disegno industriale industrial design.
She edited the volume Cultura, creatività, industria. Culture del progetto e innovazione di sistema in Emilia-Romagna (Luca Sossella, 2017). She is also the co-author—along with Elena Formia and Valentina Gianfrate—of the volume Design e mutazioni. Processi per la trasformazione continua della città (Bononia University Press, 2021).
