Research

Keywords: Market-based accounting research, disclosure, corporate governance, earnings management and M&A

Eleonora Monaco’s prior research examines how financial reporting and disclosure practices shape firms’ information environments and influence capital market outcomes, particularly in contexts of heightened uncertainty, such as crisis-driven policy interventions, mergers and acquisitions, and emerging digital financial technologies. Her work investigates how firms communicate with investors when information asymmetry is high.

Her current research focuses on the intersection of corporate governance and disclosure quality. In particular, she studies how governance mechanisms - including board structures, monitoring intensity, and managerial incentives - affect corporate behavior and the quality of firms’ disclosures, especially when firms face external pressures or operate under conditions of heightened uncertainty.
