Education

Eleonora Mancini received her M.S. degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Bologna in 2021, with a dissertation on speech emotion recognition for disruptive situation detection in public transport. She is currently a PhD Candidate and Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DISI) at the University of Bologna, within the Language Technologies Lab.

Her research focuses on multimodal artificial intelligence, with emphasis on the integration of speech, language, and musical signals, multimodal representation learning, and explainability methods for interpretable and trustworthy AI systems. Her work spans multiple domains, including political discourse analysis, multimodal argument mining, clinical decision support, and music information retrieval.

She has conducted research as a Visiting Researcher at Mila – Quebec AI Institute, collaborating with the SpeechBrain group, and as a Visiting Researcher at Sony AI (Barcelona), working on foundation model adaptation for audio–music tasks.

She also serves as a teaching assistant in machine learning and natural language processing courses at the University of Bologna.
