The research activity is mainly in the field of hydrodynamic turbulence. One main stream of activity is devoted to the LES modeling of Newtonian turbulence, while a second one deals with turbulence in dilute polymer solutions. From the point of view of the simulation the technique is high fidelity computational methods using pseudo-spectral approaches both for Direct Numerical Simulations and LES simulations.

I have investigated wall turbulence, homogeneous and isotropic turbulence, turbulent convection, flow around bluff bodies and recently turbulent/non-turbulent interfaces. The tools used for the investigation might vary. The favorite one is the scale by scale budget of turbulent kinetic energy for non homogeneous flows which has been extended both to LES modeling and to viscoelastic flows.
