Born in Rome on March 16, 1977
Associate Professor in Child Neuropsychiatry at the University of Bologna since 2018, he carries out his research in the field of Pediatric Neurology. Research interests are directed in particular to rare neurological/neurogenetic diseases and to forms of iatrogenic neurotoxicity in children treated for hemato-oncological pathologies.
Training
Graduated in Medicine in 2001 at the University of Siena, he got his specialization in Pediatrics in 2006 at the same University.
Professional career
Since 2007 Medical Director of Level I at the UO Child Neuropsychiatry of the Policlinico di S.Orsola. Since 2015 he works as a consultant in Pediatric Neurology for ASL of Imola.
Since May 7, 2018 he is Associate Professor at the University of Bologna. From 2018 to 2020 he was Director of the UO Child Neuropsychiatry of the Policlinico di S.Orsola. Since January 1, 2021 he is Director of the UOC Pediatric Neurology and Psychiatry of the Institute of Neurological Sciences of Bologna with sites at Policlinico di Sant'Orsola and Bellaria Hospital.
Scientific activity
He has participated and participates in national and international research groups in the field of neurological phenotyping and the study of disease mechanisms of some neurogenetic disorders (with particular interest in recent years about the S. Mowat-Wilson, S. Pallister-Killian and some forms of encephalopathy with brain calcifications).
He is also Coordinator of the study group of Neuroncology and Neurology of Transplantation of the Italian Society of Pediatric Neurology. In this field the main interest is directed towards the study of Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy (PRES) and Methotrexate Encephalopathy.
Member of the Scientific Committee of AIMW, PKS Kids-Italia and Fanep.
Referee of international journals in the field of Neurology and Pediatric Neurology.
