Research interests and main lines of work
Group leader of the Lab. of Ancient DNA of the Dept. of Cultural Heritage, Ravenna Campus and founder of the Molecular Anthropology of the Dept. of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences, University of Bologna. The Lab has obtained the "Excellence" qualification and the Bio-Anthropological (BIO/08) research group of the University of Bologna has obtained the ranking 1st in the last National Peer Review ANVUR. She was group leader of this Lab until the end of 2017, currently she is the main collaborator, with the aim to link ancient and modern researches in human population genomics.
Coordinator of research activities mainly focused on:
- ancient DNA studies
-mtDNA, Y chromosome and genomic variation in Italian, Mediterranean, Asian, African and south American populations.
-population epigenetics and DNA methylation patterns of blood and human teeth.
-molecular variability of genomic regions with a signature of selective pressure in human populations from different geographical areas.
-Microbiota analysis (gut and oral) and dietary shifts.
-Genetics of isolated populations.
